Gerald and Grant Simon are a Louisiana-based father and son team specializing in independent financial planning and insurance solutions. Their powerful combination of extensive experience (50+ years) and unbridled energy has earned them a loyal following of devoted clients.

While their firm, Simon and Simon International, is based in Covington, Louisiana, they serve clients across the country.

Gerald Simon, the senior partner, is a Chartered Life Underwriter who believes his firm’s multi-generational approach gives clients the best of both worlds: Combining the experience to evaluate investment and insurance products with a youthful approach to discovering new avenues of opportunity for clients. Mr. Simon graduated magna cum laude, in 1962, from Northwestern State University. Upon graduation, he accepted a position as an auditor with Deloitte and Touche, an International Certified Public Accounting firm. Over the years, he has served as a guest speaker for the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, The Covington Bar Association, The Slidell Bar Association, The Southern Medical Association, and as a guest lecturer at Charity Hospital School of Nursing. Mr. Simon was also a motivational speaker for the Million Dollar Round Table. Additionally, Mr. Simon has served on the Presidential Advisory Councils for Security Life of Denver and Lowry Financial Services Corporation of Florida.

Grant Simon is a financial advisor with Simon and Simon International of Covington, Louisiana, and a plaintiff loyal structured settlement broker with Summit Settlements, Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa.  He has been working alongside his father at Simon and Simon for a decade. A guest lecturer for the Covington Bar Association as well as the Slidell Bar Association, Grant provides continuing legal education for members of the Trial Lawyers’ Association of Louisiana. He is a past winner of the Crystal Sun Award, recognizing him as one of the top ten producers in the United States with Sun Life Financial. Grant specializes in the areas of tax-deferred investments, structured settlement annuities, and estate planning.

Part of Simon and Simon International’s considerable success comes from partnerships it has built with Certified Public Accountants across the country. When clients ask their CPA “What should I do with my investments?” or bring their investment plan in for review, these CPAs call in the Simons.

Because of the regulatory environment, CPAs who aren’t licensed are careful not to give investment advice. Instead they team up with the Simons so their client’s investment choices are integrated with their tax and financial decisions. Not only are clients getting sound investment advice, their accountant is always up to speed on the status of their investments.

Being truly independent, and not “captive” to a large company’s product portfolio, is another advantage the Simons’ provide their clients. While other advisors are limited to selling only the products offered by their brokerage or national insurance agency, the Simons have access to an unlimited portfolio of solutions, allowing them to offer the best products to suit a client’s individual needs.

Fiscal Cliff & Retirement - Financial Annuity Advisor Grant Simon Covington Louisiana
The impending fiscal cliff, the prospect of tax reform and future debt ceiling debates are causing pre-retirees to feel uneasy about their financial planning strategies and funds for the future. If a compromise cannot be reached before January 1, 2013, there could be $607 billion in automatic annual tax increases and spending cuts will automatically take effect. Even if a compromise is reached before the end of the year, it is highly likely that both Medicare and Social Security will have benefits reduced in the future.

Grant Simon of Simon & Simon International in Covington Louisiana says "it is important for retirees to always plan ahead to avoid running out of money during what should be the golden years. Those who are planning for retirement are worried that the fiscal cliff may bring possible hikes in tax rates on income, capital gains and dividends."

Sequence Media Employer Defined Contribution Plans Simon & Simon Inc Covington Louisiana
In a defined contribution plan, fixed contributions are paid into an individual account by employers and employees. The contributions are then invested, for example in the stock market, and the returns on the investment (which may be positive or negative) are credited to the individual's account. On retirement, the member's account is used to provide retirement benefits, sometimes through the purchase of an annuity which then provides a regular income. Defined contribution plans have become widespread all over the world in recent years, and are now the dominant form of plan in the private sector in many countries. For example, the number of defined contribution plans in the US has been steadily increasing, as more and more employers see pension contributions as a large expense avoidable by disbanding the defined benefit plan and instead offering a defined contribution plan.
